Beschreibung
The goal of the SCA4PQC program is to research countermeasures to side-channel attacks on asymmetric methods of post-quantum cryptography. That is, specific cryptosystems are to be developed, which should not only be resistant to attacks by classical computers and quantum computers, but whose implementation should also withstand current classes and foreseeable, new side-channel attacks. The program focuses on ensuring high, holistic side-channel resistance by means of efficient countermeasures. In this context, holism implies enabling resistance to as many of the known attacks and types of side channels as possible. Countermeasures are efficient, if the caused overhead is small and they incur minimal overall system performance loss. At the end of the research program, laboratory-scale demonstrators corresponding to a technology readiness level (TRL) of less than or equal to 4 must be delivered as well as tested for side-channel resistance. These implementations, which should be as general as possible, must be applied and analyzed to at least one use-case in internal and external security. Overall, the program results should foster the necessary migration to post-quantum cryptography and have connectivity in internal and external security, including possible further development beyond TRL 4.

- Los 1Cloud/Desktop (Research Area 1)
In this research area, software for desktops, mobile devices, and the cloud will be considered. The software should run on commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware found in cloud∕desktop computers and typically require processors with medium to high performance. Examples of these are chips with multiple cores and a clock frequency > 2000 MHz, which also support the most demanding applications …
ohne Wert - Los 2Internet of Things (Research Area 2)
IoT devices and embedded systems rely on processors with low to medium performance in order to operate energy-efficiently. The object of investigation here is a processor that offers sufficient performance for sensors, actuators or smart applications with low power consumption. This means that countermeasures to side-channel attacks on implementations are to be investigated, whereby limiting …
ohne Wert - Los 3Smartcards (Research Area 3)
Smart cards (also known as integrated circuit cards, ICCs) use extremely energy-efficient and specialized microcontrollers with very low computing power. Typical processors or 8-bit controllers, optimized for cryptographic functions, run at very low clock frequencies < 100 MHz. ID cards and bank cards according to the international standard ISO 7816 belong to this category. In this lot, …
